King Kamehameha III established ka Lā Hoʻihoʻi as the first national holiday of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1843, and it was revived in 1986 by a handfull of ground-breaking kānaka aloha ʻāina.  All of the proceeds from your purchase go toward continuing the celebration of this Hawaiian national holiday. This year, the month-long celebration included a community imu, a poetry festival, an education conference for independence-minded teachers, and a mālama ʻāina day in Kahana. This year's honorees are Dr. Haunani-Kay Trask and Aunty Judy Napoleon.
